The Letter is L for Love-in-a-mist
Nigella damascona
Do you grow this charming old-fashioned flower in your garden?
The fragrance is not its tour de force
but it's beautiful blue delicacy and the
feathery surrounding to the flower
makes it a favourite.
I used to grow it at the bottom of the steps
in my old garden
Now it is tucked it a pot along
with the nicotiana
and they make a lovely combination.
I included that sweet Lazuli Bunting because I just
happened upon him and he
seemed perfect for the picture.

One of my mother's favourite flowers and one which mostly takes care of itself, reseeding every year, though not necessarily where I'd like it to be!
Great color-- look a little bit like what we used to call 'bachelor's buttons' -- why, I do not know. Not sure if they are exactly the same. (I'd love to spot that bird somewhere too of course!)
Nigella became a favorite in my last garden, managing to seed a second fall-blooming crop. I sprinkled saved seed in the strip along the log retaining wall here and hope it will germinate.
A lazuli bunting once stayed for nearly two weeks at our bird feeder in Wyoming. There had been a late spring storm and we suspected it had stopped to refuel before continuing its journey to summer nesting grounds. A beautiful bird.
Ahh in Dutch they are called "juffertje in het groen"... and if i translate that as liturally as possible it becomes 'little miss in the green"
Not in our garden no, i don't like that colour, our garden has flowers with colours white and purple
