One day this week
when the sun was shining and the sky was blue
and the trees still held a small vestige
of autumn colour,
the phone rang, and it was
Number Three Son calling to ask
if I was up to an afteroon drive down the valley!!
Of course, -
a most pleasant way to spend
an afternoon,
and in most welcome company...
I took the camera...
and include herewith
a couple of the pictures we took.
a scooped out stone amongst the sage brush and meadow grass
Autumn leaves, down by the border where we stopped to visit with a friend
mountain slopes
A cup of tea at the end of the drive
and another day of pleasure and satisfaction...
so glad that Charles and I decided
to have six lovely children
all of whom are so kind to me,
and so great to be with!!!!

I'm sure Number Three enjoyed the drive as much as Mum. The pictures you brought home are awesome. Are the skies always so blue there? I'll try to remember "White Rabbit" in the morning!
What a lovely drive. It is so good to hear when children grow up to become loving adults and like to care for their parents. I am so glad I had children (three of them, and they are all wonderful to me).

I know each and every one of your children are glad to have your great company! .... the valley is looking great, especially for this time of year. What a nice drive. I have been thinking about your previous posts on turnips/rutabagas and wondered if you knew the book "Rutabaga Stories" by Carl Sandburg. (I am pretty sure I'm right about the author -- should have looked it up before I started this comment) -- -- but in any case, it was a collection of children's stories that my dad read to us .... and I am not even sure why it was called that!
I don't know that book, Sallie, but thank you for mentioning it and I will be sure to look it up. Rutabagas have a warm place in my heart!!! And I love them as a vegetable, too!
