The letter is H
and the subject is Honey Dew and Horseradish
Such a contrast in taste - the honey dew so smooth, so sweet, so delicious -
and the horseradish (to me, anyway) so challenging, so sharp,
so satisfying to those who love it as the perfect condiment to roast beef!
Tewkesbury mustard, - favoured in the United Kingdom; a mixture of grated horseradish root and mustard.
In the United States Horseradish is combined with mayonaise, or with sour cream
and served au jus with roast beef.
Common as well in Bloody Mary cocktails!!!!
and served au jus with roast beef.
Common as well in Bloody Mary cocktails!!!!
In Japan Wasabi is now often made with Horseradish due to the scarcity of the Wasabi plant.
I find that there are 'Horseradish People' who love it with a passion,
and 'Non-Horseradish people' who would just as soon pass it by and enjoy their roast beef
without its accompanying sharpness.
and 'Non-Horseradish people' who would just as soon pass it by and enjoy their roast beef
without its accompanying sharpness.
The passionate people, however, have a medical advantage as the Horseradish root
contains great quantities of Vitamin C.......
On the other hand - who could not love the Honey Dew!!
The sweetest of all melons,
The sweetest of all melons,
with a hint of the taste of honey.
Perfect as a dessert, sliced, or diced in a fruit salad.
Or even in a Smoothie
1 1/2 cups of Honeydew
1 cup coconut milk
1 banana
1 tsp lemon juice
1 cup of ice
Blend until smooth and enjoy!

I love melon with grated fresh ginger on it and maybe a splash of Port at Christmas time, lovely light starter!
Horseradish with Roast Beef and English Mustard and big fat Yorkshire Puddings.... Yummy,
love Di..xx
A great contrast for the letter H, Hildred! We enjoy horseradish here. I'll have to check out that Tewkesbury mustard the next time I'm in England. Sounds real good.
Have a great week!
All those dishes are very tempting, Hildred. You certainly know how to prepare delicious meals.
Have a lovely week.
Wil, ABCW Team.
I am one of those who love horseradish with my beef Hildred. I can't have one without the other - like I enjoy a bit of cheese with my apple pie. As we say over here - Apple pie without the cheese is like a kiss without a squeeze.
Looks tasty, all.
ROG, ABCW
Your recipe sounds delish - will try it in the next heat wave!
Honeydew horseradish - that would be yummy! Horseradish mixed with a little salsa is great with shrimp - next time I'll add some honeydew too and see what that tastes like.
You've made me very hungry and I'll dash off to get some dinner now :)
Cheers,
Susan
What two very opposite food items..loved how you tied them together♪ http://lauriekazmierczak.com/hole-on-hold/
I don't think you could have come up with two more contrasting flavours. Love melons but despite enjoying all things spicy the horseradish is the one thing I'm not keen on.
I'm a fan of both Hildred. And I like the sound of your smoothie recipe!
Your pictures are beautiful. Horseradish is not so my thing !
This sounds like an interesting combinations of ingredints!
