Happy New Year
I am planning to slide very quietly into the new year
in hopes that I will be able to find a peaceful corner to recover my equilibrium
after the disquiet of our own personal
Annus Horribilis
Such a sad year with all the divisions in our ecumenical church,
which for 42 years had enjoyed the friendly worship
of two denominations and which now lies in tatters.
And it ended in sorrow as we lost our darling
husband and father.
And so I greet the New Year with new aspirations,
still grieving, but with hope and love and mindfulness,
and with grateful thanks and memories
For last year's words belong to last year's language
and next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.
T.S. Eliot

Hello Hildred, I just came on the computer and saw you had posted. I've been thinking of you, hoping the snow hasn't kept you housebound. I know you have caring friends and loving family around you. But, I also know the holidays must be hard without Charles. The Eliot poem seems so fitting. I wish us all new beginnings in 2013.
Thank you for your visit, Barb - do hope all is well with you and that the new year is kind and caring to you and all your wonderful family. I imagine you out on the snowy Colorado trails with your sweet grandchildren.
With the coming of a New Year, Hildred, I am certain that many will blessed as they see God continuing to work through you. Your example is inspiring. Happy New Year!
Dear Hildred, I know that the new year will not be an easy one for you, but I wish you peace and hope that your many joyful memories sustain you.
What a beautiful header photo! Hope the new year holds warm memories and loving thoughts, along with continued lovely posts from you, Hildred.
