although what is sweet and innocent and charming here is not apparent

Here is the Winsome Rose, and below a daylily called the  Winsome Lady, both quite enchanting

Robbie Burns wrote a poem in praise of his Wife, who was a Winsome Wee thing....

My Wife's a Winsome Wee Thing

She is a winsome wee thing
She is a handsome wee thing
She is a bonnie wee thing
This sweet wee wife o' mine.

I never saw a fairer,
I never lo'ed a dearer,
And next my heart I'll wear her.
For fear my jewel tine.

She is a winsome wee thing,
She is a handsome wee thing.
She is a bonnie wee thing.
This sweet wee wife o' mine.

The World's wrack we share o't.
The warstle and the care o't.
Wi' her I'll blythly bear it.
And think my lot divine.
Robert Burns  1759-1796

Your winsome smiles are really cute! Love the flower captures and the winsome look on George W's face made me giggle. What an eclectic mix. :-)

came via Reader's wil's site that you wish to visit Australia. Australia is my second home.

When my mum first arrived to live in Oz, they were living in the hills of the Gold coast. My brother had a big section, almost a small farm. But he didn't grow anything.

Mum made dad dig a big patch for her and she grew corn. Mum used the precious Oz water, and when the corn was 3 inches tall, mum was so happy.

My sis-in-law ( Kiwi gal) heard mum went ##@@$$!!!!. She thought my parents were arguing.

Mum was cursing the kangaroos who ate all her crop.

What a lovely 'w'! I do appreciate your comments on Roger's blog about weddings. And you are so brave to post George W! I try to avoid controversy, but sometimes you just have to say what you think -- but we should be WINSOME in the way we say it.

An interesting word, Hildred, because it is so rarely used these days. Nice photographs too. Have a happy Christmas.

I really enjoyed your interpretation of winsome, Hildred. I especially liked the poem.

The image of the former president is quite something--he is smiling on half his face, and serious on the other half. I covered it half way on each side, and the difference is striking!
