No interesting Similkameen skies all week, - until last night, and then pure golden beauty in the midst of a wild thunder and lightning storm.
It was a hot, humid day with a few desultory thunderheads around.
It started to rain up valley, to the west
but the sun still shone on the toe of K Mountain
As the storm moved down the valley the light changed to gold, even as the rain started to fall
A faint rainbow reached up from the mountain in an arc across the sky
towards the north there was still blue sky but the clouds were suffused with the light of the setting sun
the golden glow in air and clouds
eventually the storm moved off over the hills towards the east, all of the time being guided by the grumbling of the thunder and bright flashes of lightning
the heavy rain was doubling welcome, first to cool the air and secondly to inhibit lightning strikes and forest fires, and to aid in controlling the fire high in the mountains in the Lower Valley
the garden thought it was just pure bliss, freshly washed with cooling rain

Breathtaking and glorious skies!
Thank you for sharing.
" Happy SWF Weekend "
Wow! beautiful golden skies.
I think that intense colour is caused by moisture droplets in the air Hildred - the photographs are exquisite.
Fantastic skies, gorgeous colors! Absolutely breathtaking captures, Hildred! Hope you have a lovely weekend!

What an amazing sequence! All seasons wrapped into one? Thanks.
Great series of photos..simply ..AWESOME
Wonderful sulphur skies, Hildred. It's raining here, too - the forest needs continual watering! I like your Header.
Oh I tell you what Hildred, the skies are beautiful and I love the time progression. But the mountains are making me lonesome for the West. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying our time here in the Low Country -- days go by and I don't even think about the fact that there's nothing to look UP to -- but your pictures make me realize what we're missing. We are low and flat here in SC.
The photos of the sun on the mountains are beautiful, Hildred.
Wow, gorgeous series of skywatch photos! The color is amazing and I love the mountains. Happy skywatching!
Stunning photo set. Well done.
Fantastic sequence of shots. I love the variety and all so beautiful.
Hildred & Charles: Beautiful variances in the sky as the storm moved in. Love your colorful header.
Outstanding series of photos! Glorious!
What a lyrical photo sequence. It is amazing how quickly skyscapes change and your shots show that so clearly. The garden after rain is wonderful, with a scent that could never be bottled!
Hi Hildred and Charles; A good storm after a hot day, is wonderful. The plants get a new lease of life and we too!I love the colours, the gold of the light how it begins to change the scenery in to something magic. It is a thrill to see nature at its most dramatic curtain call.
Gorgeous. Love the crepuscular rays, the rainbows, the fog... all of them! Awesome!
You have captured all the breathtaking sights of the sky here. Misty, dramatic, claim, glorious... They are all beautiful.
Have a wonderful weekend.
