I give you THE OSTRICH
The Ostrich roams the great Sahara
Its mouth is wide, its neck is narra
It has such long and lofty legs
I'm glad it sits to lay its eggs

As usual Ogden Nash gets right to the heart of a deep philosophical issue.
Ogden Nash - one of my favourites Hildred. And I love that top photograph. Only another ostrich could find that attractive.
I love the first shot. Up close and personal with an interesting creature.

The ostrich is a curious beautiful bird. It wants to know who you are and, when behind a fence, it walks with you.

Oh the poem makes me smile Hildred -- Just because I love it AND not least because I too posted a bird poem recently .... (mine is an Edward Lear, but you know, same sort of thing. It does my heart good to know that we share a love for the .... well, the absurd I guess!)

When we drive between Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona, there's an ostrich farm along the way. The last time we passed by the parking lot was packed with tourists. - Margy
I don't know whether to go aw cute or laugh at that face. It certainly goes with the poem. I like to see them run, not that I've ever seen them in real life!

When we were on holiday in France there was Ostrich on the menu but I just couldn't bring my self to try it! I believe it is most delicious, but...OOOOh no...... not for me!
