ABC Wednesday
The letter this week is J
The lovely, romantic Jasmine seems a perfect choice for J.
A cherished Valentine present in 2012
Jasmine - its name derived from the Persian 'Yasameen', meaning Gift of God.
It has the most compelling and enticing fragrance
The National Flower of Hawaii, Indonesia, Pakistan and the Phillippines
Jasmine has great cultural importance in the East
being used in marriage rituals, festivals, religious ceremonies
and in the home
Used often as a hair ornament, - tucked behind the ear or in a braid
its lovely fragrance is pleasant to both the wearer
and the passer-by

Just the perfect choice for the letter J ! The Night Blooming Jasmine and the Carolina Jessamine are both already blooming here, mixed with the Spring citrus trees in bloom it makes for a heady scent around 10 o'clock in the evening. That will last through the early Summer but is most noticeable now after a Winter season that brings little in the way of fragrance. Hope Spring is about to arrive in your neighborhood too, have a great week!
Jasmine is my favourite bush. I have one in my back yard!
Thanks for your lovely post. I wish you a great week.

I can almost get the fragrance. Lovely pics.
I can almost smell it from here - and I adore that head piece, perfect for a bride I would have thought. Hope you are doing well. x
that is quite pretty

I was thinking of purchasing a jasmine plant. I haven't had one before and am not sure if they are difficult to care for
Perfect choice indeed. Jasmine is revered here and is used for all things "holy"

Love the plant and the hair adornment.

How lovely this post is! So descriptive I can almost pick up that wonderful fragrance. (Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to wear that hair ornament!).
