ABC Wednesday
October 16th, 2013

The letter is N for Ogden Nash

I think that I have been here before with Ogden Nash, but he writes such delightful nonsense that
I thought another go-around might be appropriate and fun.

Well, not so much fun for Jack-do-good-for-nothing

but words of wisdom and warning, nevertheless

in this day and age!

And here is a little bonus......poor Samuel Shy!

For more interesting and informative Ns nod on over to ABC Wednesday, here,
with thanks to Denise and Roger and all kind blog readers.

I remember visiting my grandparents and reading a book that they had by Ogden Nash. We seem to have lost his kind of wit. I also enjoyed a book they had by Bennett Cerf.

His was a subtle humor, which I liked.

I love Ogden Nash's writing too Hildred, but you rarely hear it here these days for some reason.

I felt sorry for poor Jack, unrescued by his little friends, and for the man unkissed by the girls, but I had to laugh at Ogden Nash's wonderful use of words. "matrons suburbulent" to rhyme with the word "turbulent" is absolutely wonderful.
Thanks, Hildred, I certainly enjoyed this, and I hope you are doing well.

What a wonderful mix of darkness and light in these poems.

I had never heard his voice! Loved these. You are the absolute champion at finding YouTubes that actually MEAN something. I loved his voice which was just as dry as his poems and it was so neat to hear him read his fabulous rhymes and words. Just wonderful. (I used to be a matron suburbial ;>) )

Poignant! I need to know more about him. A keen observer of human nature I think.
