ABC Wednesday

O is for Ostrich

The Ostrich by Ogden Nash

The ostrich roams the great Sahara.
Its mouth is wide, its neck is narra.
It has such long and lofty legs,
I'm glad it sits to lay its eggs.

Photos courtesy of the Internet, - could not find anyone to acknowledge.

ABC Wednesday which is so kindly hosted by Denise Nesbitt has oodles of O's for you, so hop on over by clicking here.

Wonderful closeup of the ostrich. It would have scared me to see this in my viewfinder!

How adorable. I just smiled a lot looking at it.
Loved the Nash prose too.

Aren't ostriches strange, comical creatures? There's an ostrich farm near our house and it causes quite a shock when strangers see them for the first time. They're not a common sight in English fields!!

Yes Ogden Nash had it right. That first photograph seems to say 'you lookin' at me'

Great ostrich shot.
I'm reminded of a Steppenwolf song called The Ostrich.

Sometimes the internet is just there to be mined - or to illustrate an Ogden Nash poem. Great combination and an original take on the letter O.
