So to me 'ostentatious' is very close to a curse word. (The pictures you show are kind of funny (that hat!) but the woman I remember wore a big fur coat with a collar made of animals (minks?) hanging head down ... I was afraid of them and of her. There are other equally vulgar family stories about that woman.... <br /><br />I really do hope I've found the golden medium between my prim and proper grandmother and that ostentatious woman -- neither one was an ideal role model really!
